There are some great events in the Twin Cities taking place this April. Whether you want to be indoors or out there is something for everyone. Get your bloom on at the Como Conservatory where you can see their Spring Flower show. Be sure to bring you camera, the blooms are spectacular.

If you’ve got any outdoor activities like camping, fishing, or biking this year then you’ll want to take in the Outdoor Family Expo.

It may not be time to get out and work in the garden just yet but you can take in the Home Improvement and Design Expo this weekend to start planning any DIY projects you have for this year. These are just some of the family friendly events taking place this April. Check out the list below for more fun things to do this month.

Spring Flower Show at Como Conservatory
When: Now through April 24^th, 2016
Where: Marjorie McNeely Conservatory

The spring show will include Orange and Yellow Tulips, Yellow Daffodils, Yellow Hyacinth and Yellow Crocus with a small percentage of White Hydrangeas. Hyacinth, Asiatic lilies, Oriental lilies, Calla, Bearded Iris, Allium, and Crocus will be the featured flowers giving this show a unique aesthetic.

Outdoor Family Expo

Imagine blue skies, splashing in the lakes and playing under a leafy green canopy! Learn tips and tricks for enjoying the outdoors, and discover all that Minnesota has to offer. Studies show that being outdoors is good for your health and contributes to positive attitudes!

Get connected to all the resources you need – there will be learning stations for all ages from tying jigs, to trying out binoculars, setting up a tent, nature play, hiking and biking info, and outdoor summer sports and recreation in Maplewood! Learn about safety, first aid and wildlife watching and geocaching.

A suite of outdoor vendors will be on hand to share their expertise and the newest trends in outdoor gear.

Delicious food will be provided by Urban Oasis. Meet a live porcupine, Hawk and more!

St. Paul Art Crawl
When: April 22^nd – 24^th
Where: Various Locations

The Saint Paul Art Collective has been hosting the Art Crawl ever since, with the number of participating artists now exceeding 300 and the number of visitors averaging around 20,000 for each semi-annual, three-day event. The most recent Art Crawl boasted seventeen participating buildings in the Lowertown and Downtown neighborhoods alone. The Art Crawl is not limited to those two areas, however. In the mid-2000s, locations along University and Grand Avenues as well as in the Eastside and Westside neighborhoods of Saint Paul began participating.

Earth Day Celebration
When: April 21^st | Noon to 4pm

Midtown Global Market and Do It Green! Minnesota will celebrate Earth Day on Sunday, April 21. The event will feature a variety of activities and services focused on “The Way We Grow”, including: • Food choice display to learn about environmental “food prints” • Interactive children programs, including an Eco Twister game and seed planting • Handouts and volunteers on staff in other languages, including Spanish and Hmong • Wallet-sized food choices and shopping tips card at the Do It Green! Resource Center, located in the Market. Other Earth Day activities include: • Sustainable cooking demonstrations by the chefs at Kitchen in the Market • More than 15 educational booths from local environmental organizations • Information from Hennepin County Environmental Services • Entertainment in the Central Plaza

Union Depot’s Train Days

Join us for a celebration of trains and transportation – Saturday, April 30, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday, May 1, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Enjoy a fun and educational experience as we highlight the history and future of passenger train travel, the historic and current role of freight railroads in our region, and changing transportation trends and needs. All will enjoy a wide variety of free transportation-inspired activities. The weekend will include train equipment, musical entertainment, special events and activities for all ages.

Art in Bloom Family Day

View fresh floral creations and the artworks that inspired them. Enter a world of timeless art and fresh flowers during the 33rd annual Art in Bloom – a four day festival of fresh floral arrangements and fine art, presented by Friends of the Institute at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Delight in over 150 floral designs that interpret objects from Mia’s collection. A Twin Cities rite of spring! And, it’s free.
