Spring is finally here and it’s time to get out of your houses! This month there are plenty of events for you to attend in the twin cities. From a remodeling expo to a film festival and flower show, you’re sure to find something that suits your fancy.

Minneapolis Remodeling Expo

The 2015 Minneapolis Remodeling Expo will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center April 10th through the 12th. As always this  comprehensive and expansive home show brings homeowners access to some of the industries top professionals. Anything you’d like to know about home building and remodeling can be found at this expo. From the smallest design detail  to the largest home addition you’ll have the means necessary to answer any of your questions. Whether you’re looking for someone to help bring your own ideas to life, or need a little help getting an idea fleshed out, there will be a professional available to help you.

There will be many showcases at the home show that will allow you to view the latest trends innovations in home design including things like cabinetry, countertops, flooring, sunrooms, additions, decking, basement finishing, the latest in smart home automation and more!

Barbie: The Dreamhouse Experience

This imaginative installation brings the iconic Barbie™ Dreamhouse® toy to real life for fans of all ages. With interactive and personalized touches, guests have the opportunity to discover different rooms, living areas and to explore the 30,000 square feet of this larger-than-life version of Barbie™ doll’s Dreamhouse® for a one-of-a-kind branded experience.

 

Macy’s Flower Show: Art in Bloom 2015

When: March 22-April 4
Where: Macy’s Downtown Minneapolis

The weather has finally lightened up and now is the perfect time to stop and smell the roses. You still have a few days left to enjoy the Macy’s Flower Show so be sure to get out of the house and start enjoying Spring! The Macy’s Flower Show has been wowing visitors with its elaborate gardens and beautiful arrangements for the past 41 years and this years arrangements will be no exception.

 

Minneapolis/Saint Paul International Film Festival

When: April 9-25
Where: St. Anthony Main Theatre

The Minneapolis/St Paul International Film festival is the largest film event in the Upper Midwest, and one of the largest and longest running film festivals in the country, the MSP International Film Festival annually presents some 200 feature length and short form narrative and documentary films from 60+ countries around the world to growing numbers of attendees every year.

This event has many programs available for those interested in certain genres or themes. Some of the programs include;

Design Cycles: A Bike Show

Biking here is on the rise. The Twin Cities have not only created a nationally recognized bicycling infrastructure, and are among the top 10 cycling cities in the U.S., but we’re also leaders in bike innovations and technology. The Goldstein Museum of Design’s new exhibition celebrates this entrepreneurship. The show includes frames by such regional builders as Erik Noren and Curt Goodrich, gear and tools by Twin Six and Bike Fixtation, and a special historical overview of Surly’s fat bike. The show also looks at bicycle history and politics

 

Farm Babies

When: April 1 – April 30, 2015 9am – 4pm
Where: Wells Fargo Family Farm – Minnesota Zoo

Enjoy the sights and sounds of spring at the Wells Fargo Family Farm where there’s nothing cuter than baby chicks, piglets, lambs, calves, goat kids, and bunnies. In addition, throughout the Zoo there will be special “egg” enrichment treats for the animals including colored Jell-O eggs, piñatas, and hard-boiled eggs (exhibit locations and schedule listed below).

Coloring Contest

  • Hay maze in the Machine Shed 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Family Craft Activity in the Granary Classroom (April 3 & 4) -11 a.m. -2 p.m.
  • ”Peter Rabbit” Costume character (April 4) – 10 a.m. -1 p.m.

    • 9 a.m. – Enrichment at Snow Monkeys
    • 10 a.m. – Enrichment at Brown Bears
    • 11 a.m. – Enrichment at Sea Otters or Meet a Bird Keeper at Tropics Trail

    • 2 p.m. – Close Encounters at End of Tropics Trail
  • University of Minnesota Bee Squad (April 18 & 19) – Learn why we should be more “bee friendly.” Get up close to a live hive and learn more about these important pollinators at the Farm.
  • MN Pork Growers Oink Booth (April 25 & 26) at the Farm
  • Daily Cow Milkings:  11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. at the Farm

Limited tram rides will be available on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
